Utah, family and fun!

We arrived in Utah last week and have enjoyed spending time with family! It has been really nice to see everyone and share some time in their lives. We are having fun and look forward to our last week here before heading up to Jackson for the summer. We have a couple of photo shoots to do here in Utah for our families and they should be tons of fun. We are off to take pictures in about an hour for my sister. Lots of editing and finalizing some things for Jackson in the coming week...wish us luck!

Wagenman Family Pictures

On Saturday, April 28th we had the pleasure of meeting the Wagenman family in Albuquerque, NM.  We met them at the Elena Gallegos Trail by the mountains and it was very pretty there, a truly great location for portraits.  The following pictures are our favorites of the day.  Let us know what you think and a big thank you goes out to the Wagenman family for letting us take their family portraits!

At this point in the shoot, I wanted to try out some off camera flash to bring them out. We were shooting against a cloudy background at sunset but the flash allowed me to add the dramatic effect that I wanted by darkening their surroundings. I asked Katrina to hold a speedlight attached to a hotshoe adapter (for a light stand) that had a slot for an umbrella.  We used a white shoot-through umbrella and this was hand held by Katrina on the left side about 2-3 feet from the subjects..  I love how the following shots all came out.
